A Little About Us and the MAR-T

Our Cast of Characters

The MAR-T

You cannot have a cast without a stage and the MAR-T is ours. The MAR-T is a Topaz express powered by twin Caterpillar Diesel 3208 turbos. We hold 300 gallons of fuel and 40 gallons of fresh water.

Mr. Marvin Thompson

Marvin is the owner of the MAR-T, and, you may notice the boat is named for him. He has been a loooonnngggg time saltwater enthusiast. "Sunny" even graces us with his presence onboard on occasion. Don't be surprised if he greets you at the dock after your trip to make sure you enjoyed your time on the MAR-T.

Captain Chris Dalton

Chris grew up around Mobile Bay and eventually followed it out into the gulf. Well, the boy ain't been right since. Fishing, boats, rods and reels are about all that consumes him. He and his wife Sussi-Q live on the Island.

Bradley "Moose" Myer

Bradley is the newest member of the crew holding down the deckhand spot. He is a sophomore at the University of Alabama Birmingham where he is in the pre-med program AND he is also a scholarship athlete on the baseball team where he is a pitcher. He is a very intelligent young man with a bright future and he is loads of fun to fish with.

More about the Boat

Outside

The MAR-T has a very large cockpit that accommdates 6 anglers nicely while bottom fishing. We also have a center and out riggers for those days when the perfect weedline forces you to follow it into the horizon. A 40 gallon live well keeps the live baits happy and we have both fresh and raw water washdowns in the cockpit. A 220 and 320 quart SSI coolers serve as fish and bait boxes. We have a tower with controls and extra rod storage.

Inside

The head, (bathroom for land lubbers), has a stand up shower with toilet and a vanity with sink and mirror.

For overnight trips, or just napping whenever you feel the need, there are four bunks forward. The dinette also converts to a double berth, or accommodates four nicely for eating, playing cards or just hanging out while under way.

The entire cabin has heat and air conditioning.

The Tackle

The lion's share of our tackle is all Penn, from bottom fishing and all purpose rods and reels to our Penn International trolling gear. There are a couple of Diawas in the mix and a Tiagra 50WLRS always comes along on those long runs.
